Music from TuneCore customers, hand-picked by the TuneCore staff...some top sellers, plus many up and comers that are mostly self-released, ranging from poppy to arty. We love them and wanted to share.

This week's picks include some of the Best Albums of 2008 distributed by TuneCore, IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER!!! These albums vary a lot in sound and feel, as 2008 was an amazing year in music--we're sure there's some we forgot. Kicking it off is Doug Benson's Professional Humoredian, one of the best comedy albums period, let alone this year. Obi Best's album, Capades, took us on a journey, and Byrne and Eno's album sent us to space. On the dance side, we loved Girl Talk's polarizing but fun-to-the-max album Feed the Animals and dj/rupture and Andy Moor's Patches. The underground hip-hop of Idle Warship and Doomtree should hopefully wake up the masses. Also included are albums from Nine Inch Nails, William Fitzsimmons, Final Fantasy, Act of Congress, Old Crow Medicine Show, Ingrid Michaelson, Zac Brown Band, and Carla Bruni. There were so many break-out albums and old favorites it would be injustice to try to describe why they were so special: the proof is in the music!

This week's TuneCore picks has this month's best sellers, a varied mix including new country sensation The Zac Brown Band and David Byrne and Brian Eno's amazing album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today (one of the best of the year). Also appearing are two Halloween albums showcasing spooky sounds and tracks from Lecrae, William Fitzsimmons, Jason Mraz, and Minus the Bear.

This week's picks should include something for everyone, starting off with a brand new single, "Cast Your Own Shadow" from the consistently awesome My Teenage Stride. Person L's song "Wooden Soldier" is a good introduction to a great band. Also included are tracks from Cormega, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, and the soothing fingerpicked acoustic ballad from Right Away, Great Captain. Thrown in for good cheer are some tracks from the Princeton Christmas Charity album featuring some of the most talented choirs in the country. Enjoy!

This week's TuneCore picks include some holiday tracks to remind you to go shopping, including a couple of modern takes from the rowdy Slade and Washington Projects. Also enjoy a classic from the extremely talented American Boys Choir from the Princeton Christmas fund-raiser album. Not to be outdone, Kenny Ellis jazzes up the Driedel Song, and there are live tracks from Talib Kweli and Matisyahu from the Call+Response soundtrack, dj/rupture and Andy Moor, and The Jerky Boys' Jerky Tapes.

This week's picks include some new albums to the TuneCore family! On the comic side, we have the classic Jerky Boys and selections from the recent albums, Sol's Rusty Trombone and The Jerky Tapes! A very spacey track from the innovative dj/rupture from the collaboration album with Andy Moor is sure to relax you. On the hip/hop side are two selections from the new Krohme album with guest spots from Cappadonna and Atari Blitzkrieg. Act of Congress gives us a little taste of bluegrassy country, and the title track from Katie Costello's debut album is pure pop goodness. Enjoy!

This month's top sellers includes artists that have been in our charts for months: Jay-Z, Nine Inch Nails, Joan Jett and Boyce Avenue. Congrats on their continued success! There are some newcomers to the list, though, such as great Josh Ritter tunes, as well as Ingrid Michaelson's bubbly pop.

This week's TuneCore staff picks are all classic rock from the 70's and early 80's filled with that burning desire to throw TVs and crowd surf. Listen to Joan Jett and the rebel-rousing classics, "I Love Rock n Roll" and "Bad Reputation," plus Iggy Pop's live version of "Lust for Life" (and he sure does), not to mention Frank Zappa, Sammy Hagar, and the kings of Brit Glam Rock (with many imitators), Slade. There's also a track from a band that got big by doing a Slade cover: Twisted Sister!.

This week's staff picks is exclusively hip hop! Here are some of the best selling hip-hop artists using TuneCore distribution. Refreshingly, these top-selling artists are almost all unsigned or on independent record labels. Ranging in taste from the religious, eclectic, and international, these artists are sure to grow bigger and bigger by the year.

This week's staff picks includes a just-released track from Oh No Oh My that's destined to be a hit single. Also included is another new release from a new band called The Yelling. Enjoy the more tracks from artists such as Ivana XL, David Byrne and Brian Eno, MIC Handler, Apologetix (for a funny parody), the genius of Doug Besnon, Kovas, and last but not least, Eddie Kirkland.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble finally brings wind instruments back to the forefront, and Doomtree's track will make you stomp on the floor in rhythm.
