14th Century
general info
Born around the time of hip-hop's inception when Sugarhill Gang dropped "Rapper's Delight" and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five came out with "Superrappin'", 14th Century grew up during what hip-hop historians have deemed 'the golden era'. Crafting simple drum patterns on a casio keyboard and scribing darts since his childhood, 14th Century has built on lessons taught by the grandmasters of the artform. In an age where 'get rich quick schemes' dominate the motivation for most people to be involved with hip-hop, the art and essence of this beloved culture has been threatened. 14th Century goes against the grain during the modern-era of stagnant hip-hop staying true to the art of lyricism and pushing the envelope with each record he produces.
In 2004 14th dropped Gung Fu The First Principle (Paper Cranes); a politically-charged album flourishing with super-lyrical darts and dreamlike audio-scapes. Continuing along the same lines, with more violent and dark imagery being displayed 14th dropped Gung Fu The Second Principle (Drunken Mantis Fist Boxing) in late 2005/early 2006. As 2008 is in full swing the self-proclaimed Gung Fu King is hard at work putting the finishing touches on another album titled 'Raw Fish and Sake'.
